The ultimate secret for email design is to keep it simple. So often your design looks immaculate, yet once it arrives in your inbox, it displays distorted. The reason is because the email client does not support your email.
Here are 5 tips to keep in mind when creating your next email campaign.
What to avoid in your emails designs:
Flash: You will experience compatibility issues. If you want to include a movie, rather host a movie online and prompt your readers to click on a call to action link to view the movie.
JavaScript: You will experience compatibility issues along with security warning issues.
Forms: Some people may disagree with this – but forms are not fully compatible and we suggest you rather host your forms online.
Background Images: Background images are very tricky if you wish to get maximum compatibility. Certain email clients does not render background images properly.
Setting a background colour without using a wrapping div: Many web based email clients will not show your body background color. We have firsthand experience in this and we would suggest being extremely careful with background colours. Test it in various email clients.
We need to remember that there are various different email clients and they all render emails differently. Your email might display differently in Gmail as appose to Outlook. The simpler you keep your design the less compatibilty issues you will encounter.
